Report-
Annie Leibovitz was born on October 7th, 1949 in Waterbury, Connecticut. Leibovitz is the third of six children to Marilyn Edith and Samuel Leibovitz. She is a third generation child, her father's parents were Romanian-Jews. Her mother was a dancer and her father was a lieutenant colonel, so she moved a lot. She started taking her first pictures when her father was stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. For college, she attended San Francisco Art Institute. She studied painting, because she intended to become a painter. She was inspired by photographers such as Robert Frank and Henri Cartier-Bresson when she was in college and decided to take up photography. She continued developing her photography skills while she had various jobs in Amir, Israel including a stint on a kibbutz. She returned to the United States in 1970. When she returned, she photographed John Lennon for Rolling Stones. In 1973, Jann Wenner named Leibovitz head photographer of Rolling Stones for ten years. While working for Rolling Stones, she learned that there were more magazines she could work for and still create personal work, which was what was most important to her. In 1991, she was the first woman to hold an exhibition at Washington's National Portrait Gallery. Leibovitz has photographed many celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Johnny Depp, Rihanna, Adele and Miley Cyrus. Her pictures of Miley Cyrus were misinterpreted. She also photographed the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015.
Annie Leibovitz' style uses lighting, lots of bold colors and poses. She has girls wearing fancy dresses and laying in the grass, posed. There was one that I absolutely loved, which has a guy who looks like a mad scientist setting up his music before playing the piano. You will see that picture and an inspired one. Some of her portraits reminded me a little bit of the Mona Lisa. Some of her pictures were in black and white.
She photographed in Sonajero and there wasn't electricity, so she used natural light. So pretty much, she was trying to emphasize that natural light works better. I feel like natural light really pulls the best details out of the picture and makes it so much more pretty. She uses lots of bold colors, so she's trying to make the picture more attractive and bright. And that is awesome to me.
Leibovitz has influenced me to pay attention to lighting. She also influenced me to not have the subject looking at the camera for every picture and that they still look great. Not just looking like they're getting ready to be photographed, but doing something. That's one of the reasons why I love the piano picture, despite Ira not looking like he's looking at the music. My mom had some critiquing to that picture, but all that matters is if I love it and Ms. Giltner likes it.

Compare and Contrast-
My pictures don't look as good as Leibovitz', of course, but they came out well.
In "Mason the Bow/Arrow Princess", I didn't have a bow and arrow as big as the one in the professional picture. And I only had a nerf bow and arrow that we had to borrow from my brother and his friends. I had Mason kind of looking at the camera and looking like she was about to launch the bow and arrow. And Mason doesn't have fierce red curly hair. And I had her facing the wrong way.
In "The Death Bed Princess", Lily's hair isn't as blonde as the one in the picture. Both pictures are laying in the grass. The professional picture has little flowers around the girl. I couldn't make origami flowers, unfortunately. The dress that Lily is wearing is pink and not yellow like Leibovitz' picture. There's also less sun in the professional picture than in my picture.
"Piano Man" is the one that I'm most excited to discuss about, since something about the composition is just so beautiful in my picture. So anyway, the background in my picture the background and lighting is a lot brighter than in the professional picture. The piano isn't black, instead in mine it's brown. since the background in my picture is brighter, Ira doesn't blend in like the person in the professional picture. The professional picture, the guy isn't wearing a watch, but Ira is. (I should have told him to take it off, but I wanted to be fast, since he was feeling queasy.) And Ira looks like he was about to fall off the piano bench thing, lol! (Ira, if you decide to look at my photography site with the link I sent you, I'm sorry about the last sentence).
